ECS Summer Camps in Issaquah!

Summer at Eastside Community School is a time for creating, exploring, and connecting with new friends! Our camps are led by experienced Waldorf teachers, and are free from screens and distractions, allowing children to immerse themselves in activities that promote creativity and joy. Children are encouraged to explore, move, and play.

Our summer camps are designed to complement our school year programs, and are open to current students and the broader community.

Mulberry Mornings is a joyful, nature-rich early childhood summer camp designed to give young children a gentle, playful start to their day—entirely outdoors, with shade provided. Rooted in Waldorf principles, each morning follows a comforting rhythm of “in-breath” and “out-breath,” balancing guided activities with plenty of open-ended free play to support healthy development, creativity, and social connection.

Mulberry Mornings is ideal for children who thrive outdoors and enjoy imaginative, hands-on experiences. Mornings flow naturally through structured activity and free play, snack, water play, lunch, story time, and a peaceful close to the day. With its warm atmosphere, thoughtful rhythm, and emphasis on play, nature, and meaningful skill-building, Mulberry Mornings offers a nourishing summer experience your child will look forward to each day. Please apply sunscreen prior to drop-off.

Each week offers its own special focus:

Week One: Culinary Discoveries

Week One invites children into hands-on cooking experiences such as making cucumber rolls, fruit leather, and fairy tea. Through chopping, rolling, tasting, and preparing wholesome organic foods, children build practical skills, explore sensory textures, and practice eating family-style, nurturing independence, cooperation, and community.

Week Two: Crafty & Curious

Week Two shifts the focus to art and crafts, giving children time to explore materials freely, get messy, and delight in the creative process.

One Week: June 29th - July 3rd

Time: 9 AM to 1 PM

Art & Exploration Camp invites students into a rich, imaginative journey where art becomes a way to travel - both across the world and within. Each day, children “travel” through different lands, exploring the cultures, colors, landscapes, and stories that shape human experience, then express those impressions through a wide range of artistic mediums.

Campers will work with traditional art materials such as paint, chalk, oil pastels, and mosaics, while also experimenting outdoors, creating their own paints from natural materials, building nature sculptures, and drawing and painting directly from the world around them. Time spent outside is an essential part of the experience, with artmaking, observation, and meals all taking place in nature whenever possible.

Rooted in Waldorf-inspired teaching, this camp offers a taste of upper grades art through thoughtful lessons that weave together storytelling, rich history, and creative exploration. Each project is connected to real lived experiences and imaginative “inner travel,” encouraging students to picture life in other lands and cultures and bring those visions to life through their artwork.

Please apply sunscreen prior to drop-off. All art materials are provided. Art & Exploration Camp is a beautiful opportunity for children to deepen their creativity, cultural curiosity, and connection to nature through meaningful, hands-on art.

Camp Info

  • Children should wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty or painted on, along with layers and a sun hat.

  • Bring packed snack, lunch, & water bottle.

  • All art materials are provided.
