Eastside Community School seeks an Early Childhood (EC) Lead Teacher to join our faculty circle. The ideal candidate possesses an interest in Waldorf education, an ability to work collaboratively while tapping into one’s own freedom of creativity to meet the needs of the children and families we serve. The open position is for Preschool or Kindergarten with placement based on candidate’s experience and determined by the hiring committee.

Bring your enthusiasm for the students, for the pedagogy and for working in partnership with a thriving faculty and an international parent community. Share your ability to work supportively and flexibly in collaboration with colleagues. Typical hours for lead EC teachers in the classroom are 7:00 to 1:15 with committee work, parent work and class preparation in the afternoon.

Founded in 1995 as Three Cedars Waldorf School, the legacy continues as Eastside Community School. We are located in the foothills of the North Cascade mountains, 30 minutes east of Seattle, in the city of Issaquah. With both the stability of an established community, a supportive Board and the fresh pioneer spirit of a relatively new identity, we are in a unique position of being able to draw on the strength of the past, and to ask ourselves questions like what it truly means to be a Waldorf school at this juncture in human history, and how we can go beyond labels or dogma to meet the lived experience of our students each day.

Qualifications

  • Training or experience working in Early Childhood, preferably Waldorf education

  • Ability to create a warm, inspiring environment, while also providing healthy boundaries

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience and teaching certification. Benefits include dental and health insurance, partial tuition remission, and the possibility for professional development support and mentoring.

Recruitment and screening of applications are ongoing until the position is filled. To ensure full consideration we encourage candidates to complete and submit applications promptly. Please note that ECS reserves the right—and may exercise the option—to make a hiring decision prior to the conclusion of the recruitment process. Full job descriptions are available upon request.

Our inspired and cohesive faculty and administration are deeply committed to providing our students with an exemplary Waldorf education. We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to Eastside Community School.
